Divisions and indecisions among residents of Lévis and Lotbinière as the CRTC strengthens its control over digital platforms

On February 16, 2023, a survey was conducted among residents of Lévis-Lotbinière to gauge their opinions on giving more power to the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) to control digital platforms.

Out of a total of 491 respondents from the Lévis-Lotbinière region, the results revealed a diversity of opinions on this crucial issue.

A relative majority, 51.53% of respondents, were in favor of giving the CRTC more power to supervise digital platforms. This proportion expresses the desire for greater regulation of online activities to ensure the protection of the interests and rights of Canadian users within the specific region of Lévis-Lotbinière.

 

On the other hand, 22.61% of participants disagreed, indicating that they do not support giving the CRTC a greater role in regulating digital platforms. These respondents may have concerns about freedom of expression online and the potential impact on innovation and competitiveness of digital businesses in their region.

 

It's interesting to note that 25.87% of respondents declared themselves "Undecided", which shows that a substantial proportion of Lévis-Lotbinière residents are still considering the question and haven't yet taken a definitive position.
